Nail challenge starts tomorrow

The nail challenge I am doing starts tomorrow!

Also I did a really cool mani (fishtail braid mani) and i really wanted to post it but I forgot to take pics because my camera is dead. This is literally the only picture I have and it doesn't even show them too well at all. Lame. :/

Black and gold

These were my high school colors. I decided on a simple mani today because my nails are still super short and I don't want to deal with trying to do something complicated on such a small workspace. :)

also, I need to get to the store and buy new batteries for my camera so you're just going to have to deal with iPhone pics for a while. Hopefully not too long! This post might look weird because I am making it from my phone since my computer at home currently has no Internet!

The colors I used for this were
Color Club Nomadic In Nude for a base coat,
Nail Fetish Icon is the gold,
And opi for sephora blasted black,
With a top coat of savina base and top coat. I hope my Internet will come back soon!

See ya!

Random Nail Dump

So i was looking through the thousands of random pictures i should have sorted a long time ago and i found some nail pictures so i think im just going to dump them here :)
my nails form Fourth of July 2012, its a screenshot from my phone! i couldnt figure out how to crop it i guess. oops! (white is nyc french white tip and the red and blue are brandless polishes from big lots)

some plaid colorful thing i did in like august? maybe...
(i believe the blue is either OPI slushied or illamasqua serenity, the white is nyc french white tip, the rest of the colors are from brandless stripers from the dollar store)

this is what i currently have on my nails, inspired by a few different people. i wish i could find the links but i cant :/ ill edit this post and post them if i happen to find those blogs again... (blue is illamasqua serenity and pink is color club, but i dont know the name)

I just moved and while i was moving i cut my nails kind of short and packed away all of my polish except these 2 colors (wet n wild disturbia and on a trip i believe...really bad lighting)

this is what happens when i get striping tape and only have 2 colors and no remover! a fat chunky mess. yikes. i picked this off because i couldnt stand it anymore. (same colors as the above picture, even though it doesnt look like it. Lighting can do wonders)
i got 2 julep polishes for $5 woohooooo :) (black is julep Stefani and pink is julep Lynn with holo striping tape)

galaxy nails! another iphone screenshot.... (and i dont even know what colors i used for this, sorry!)

so in november, i did this thing with one of my best friends. its called the color run and basically you run a 5k (or walk if you want) and they throw colored powder at you, it is incredibly fun. these are the nails i did for the run, you cant tell very well, but they are all covered in a holo top coat and then all of the glitter was also holo so it was sparkling all over the place!
after the color run was over, we were covered in lots of different colors and then we went into this mosh pit of teal and this is how my hands (and pretty much the rest of me) ended up. i looked kind of like  a lizard! yikes!

heres some more color run pictures just because it was so great:
a bunch of people throwing color up in the air
right after we ran!

yay!

and this is after we went in the mosh pit of teal and then went back to her dorm. yes, we walked through the  streets of San Diego like this.
im lizard woman!
if you are interested in doing the color run, just go to http://thecolorrun.com/ they have 5ks all over the US! Its sooo fun! i really reccomend it!

okay thats all of the random nail photos i have found (so far) plus the random color run tangent! hope you enjoyed! haha :)

Throwback Thursday: Psych Nails

I was looking through some old pictures circa 2010? or maybe 2011? not sure, but i found these nails that i did for the season premiere of the tv show Psych. It's one of my favorite shows. probably my second favorite (with Dr. Who and Sherlock tied in first place, dont ask me to choose between the two) so a few years ago i did Psych themed nails and here they are! keep in mind this was before i learned about cleaning up the nails and making it look good and even before i had a decent camera/lighting and everything! This was when i first started to get into doing nails, so i didnt even have good art brushes or  even polish!  I should try to recreate these now that i have more tools and knowledge. :)
The TV show logo on one hand
heres the actual logo :) i think i did a pretty good job if i say so myself

Juliet, SBPD, and Lassiter (hes holding a gun but you cant see it in this picture)

the pictures i probably based these on :)

Right thumb, Shawn. ooh im cringing at how messy this is! yikes! and how short my nail is! it would break all the time because i didnt take care of my hand! eek!
this isnt the picture i based this on because he was wearing an orange shirt under his green shirt but whatever. small details. you get the picture

and on my other thumb, Gus. i liked this one a lot.

As for the polish i used, the white is NYC French White Tip and literally EVERYTHING else is acrylic paint. and no basecoat. yikes. and i think i used sally hansen mirror shine top coat because thats all i used before i magically discovered seche vite and savina base coat.
so there you go, a blast from the past. I seriously love this show so much. i really want to do Dr. Who nails though. expect that in the near future. the very near future.
Ciao!

Just to Let You Know

Hello,
although it is sort of obvious, Im just gonna post this to let you know that i changed the font on my blog. The other one was sort of annoying to read, and i like this one better anyway! I also added some things on the right sidebar, so  if you would like to subscribe by email or add me on GFC, then just look over there!

Alright thank you! :)

Valentines Day Nails!

This post won't be very long because I have a ton of journalism homework that I haven't done yet, but i decided to do some nails for valentines day! Im excited this year because this will be my 2nd Valentines day with my wonderful boyfriend, and this year we will actually get to spend it together, (last year he had a choir concert thing and he was either on stage or running around doing other things the whole time.) This year, the choir thing is tomorrow (the 12th) so we are both free on the 14th! yay!

For this mani I used julep Lynn for the light pink and NYC Fuchsia Shock for the hot pink, and then some striping tape i found cheap on amazon for the stripes (obviously) :)

Also, side note, my cuticles are looking a LOT better due to moisturizing them and using cuticle oil over the past week! yay! thank you Cynthia! :)

alright ill see you all later, gotta go finish up that homework! :)

Interview

I had a job interview on friday and i wore a shirt with a bluish watercolor kind of design on it so i tried watercolor nails to go with it. Honestly, i dont like how they turned out and they came off soon after. i wouldve liked it better i think if i didnt use white. i really dont like white manicures, i just dont think it looks good. it reminds me of the liquid paper manicures everyone would give themselves in middle school and i always thought that looked terrible and disgusting so i guess that feeling carried over to white manicures!
anyway, to get this look i painted a line of blue on the tip and then used acetone and a paintbrush and painted strokes going down. i really like the watercolor effect, just not so much the colors i used. i guess there was just too much white for me to handle!

BTW, the blue is Julep Michelle, and the white is NYC french white tip.

Fun Fact: NYC french white tip is the only white brand name nail polish i have ever had...i dont know why, i dont particularly like it, it just happens to be cheap and at the store whenever i need a new white polish!

which is not very often.

Catch ya later! :)

Winter Formal Nails

Hi! I went to winter formal this weekend and  i had the perfect mani to do, but i got a lot busier than i expected and also I realized that I was out of nail polish remover :O so I had to go to the store and get more before I could do my nails. Turns out I waited till the last minute (like most things i do....i have an essay waiting on me right now, wonder when ill get to that lol) but I didn't have enough time and waited until literally 10 minutes before my date got here to do my nails. Yikes. I ended up just painting them with Candies Mighty Mint like i had planned but i stamped them instead of doing what i wanted to do. and of course I didn't take any pictures either, until they were chipping and gross :( but anyway, here they are:
ImageImage
thats Candies Mighty Mint and then bundle monster plate ummm.....it says "BM-211" and just the white Konad polish for the stamp. and then Seche Vite on top. so yeah. nothing too impressive.
Today I was looking at my sad nails and the essay I have to write and i thought, hey i can totally do the quilting thing i wanted to do! So I did, while talking to people on facebook and browsing tumblr and not writing my essay, i slowly did my nails, and 2 hours later (oops) they were finally done. Here they are!
I realized when i was looking at the pictures that my cuticles look terrible :((( so i put julep cuticle oil on them and took more pictures...
lol freshly oily cuticles look weird. But whatever. I have always had terrible cuticles and nothing I have ever done has helped me :( does anyone have any tips??

Also, this mani was inspired by Cynthia from Of Life And Lacquer, (http://oflifeandlacquer.com/) I read her blog PRETTY MUCH every day, you should check her out :)

This is the post that inspired me to do this mani:

Okay this has been a really long post. Until next time! :)

oh and if your wondering what the rest of my outfit looked like, heres one of my winter formal pictures:

plus really cute black sparkly pumps that never got a picture :,( sad day.

sally hansen review

okay i just need to review something really quickly.
sally hansen hard as nails mint sorbet. i got it at target for like $1.50 and it was fine with just ONE COAT. not even the julep polishes ive tried do that. also its a cool color and its pretty and fun yay. i will be posting pictures later but i just had to get that out.
